Description:
Metal Detecting Adventures
Instructor: Jim Parry
All ages welcome! Middle school age and younger should have a parent attending with them.
Want to learn how to use a metal detector to find coins, jewelry, and relics? Join experienced detectorist Jim Parry to learn more about the hobby of metal detecting. Own a metal detector? Bring it with you! If not, don't worry, detectors will be available to practice with during class.
This class will consist of 3 parts:
1. Introductory videos emailed to participants to watch prior to the class which will introduce them to the hobby.
2. "Classroom portion" including how to choose a detector and other equipment, where to detect, researching locations and finds, how to dig a proper plug, and code of ethics.
3. Time to detect. Time will be spent at a local park seeing what treasures we can find there.
Every location detected and item found has a story to tell. Sometimes it just takes a little digging to figure out what the story is. Join us to begin your adventure as a detectorist!
Space is limited in each class to be sure all participants have equipment. Families are strongly encouraged to attend together.
